Doris Jackson Laughlin, age 93, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children on August 18, 2015.
Doris was the daughter of John Jackson and Marion Sudell. She was born and raised in East Falls. She attended Breck Elementary School and Germantown High School. While attending elementary school she met a boy name Jimmy Loughlin who she would later marry. Doris raised her three children “Up on the Hill” in the house Jimmy built for their family.
She was the heart of an extended family. Her home was where family and friends joyfully gathered.
Doris enjoyed gardening, reading, music, dancing and the theater. She loved to travel. It didn’t matter whether it was visiting her daughter in Europe, a road trip with her family, or down the shore to Avalon, she was always ready to go.
Doris said her greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“Her love will live in our hears forever.”
Doris is predeceased by her loving husband, Jimmy, survived by her three beloved children, Cheryl (Larry), Deborah, and Brad (Dee); cherished grandchildren, Kelly (Steve), Stephen (Pricilla), and adored great-grandchildren, Jack, Sophie and Ellie. She is also survived by her sisters, who were her best friends, Mary Lou Smith and Nancy Stevenson and her brother-in-law, Richard “Steve” Stevenson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
