John A. Ramsey, March 21, 2021, age 66, of Roxborough, died of pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Chicchi, son Colin Ramsey, sister Margaret Ramsey, brother Bernie Ramsey and niece, Vesna Tucker.
After graduating Temple, John became a US Army infantry officer. He had assignments in Georgia, Alaska, South Korea on the DMZ and at NATO Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. His last Army posting was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War where he was attached to the General Staff.
John went to the Philadelphia Police Department after leaving the Army, and he rose to Homicide Detective. Once retired from the Police Department, John worked in the Veteran’s Administration, helping returning vets acclimate to civilian life.
John loved the outdoors, and some of his favorite memories are camping with his family and canoe trips with his son Colin’s Scout troop.
John leaves behind a large and loving family and many friends.
John had a wonderful sense of humor And made family gatherings fun… He will be missed!
I’ll miss John offering me a cool, refreshing beverage at holiday cookouts. My deepest sympathies, Linda and Colin.
