Morello, Dolores M. “Desi,” November 3, 2023, age 83. She is survived by her beloved life partner, William Whalen, Bill’s brother Richard Whalen (the late RoseMary) and many cherished nieces and nephews: Colleen Parkinson (Joe), Richard Whalen (Patti), Carolyn Blanco (John), Rosemary Tucci (Joe), William Whalen (Renee), Christopher Whalen (Connie), Marie Lewis (James) and children Emily, Samuel and Matthew; Patricia Mathias (David) and children Dylan and Zachary, and Joanne Morello Sakowsky (Nicholas) and child Irena.
Also survived by other great nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Morello.
Dolores grew up in South Philly. She graduated from West Catholic High School in 1957. She joined a sorority while in high school and these women remained her lifelong friends.
Shortly after graduating she began to work for the Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC), where she moved up in ranks to become a Procurement Agent.
She retired from the DPSC in 1994. Then Dolores and Bill moved to Brigantine, NJ, where she became very active in her parish, St. Thomas the Apostle, 331 S. 6th St., Brigantine, NJ 08203. Dolores and Bill often entertained the resident priests of the parish.
Their house in Brigantine was beautifully decorated and illuminated by thousands of lights for every holiday. It was enjoyed by both locals and tourists.
Bill and Dolores enjoyed entertaining family members at their beach house for 25 years.
Dolores loved to crochet. She made blankets for all her nieces and nephews, for babies being baptized and for patients at Shore Memorial and Doylestown Hospitals. Dolores also enjoyed baking. Everyone looked forward to her pizzelles and biscotti which she shared with family and friends during the holidays and throughout the year.
Bill and Dolores moved to Warrington recently in order to be closer to family.
Dolores was a very loving, selfless and generous person She was indeed a special lady, who will be missed so very much.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Warrington on Friday Nov. 10th. Visitation 9:30-10:45 a.m., followed by her Funeral Mass at 11. Interment private. Donations in her memory may be given to the St. Dismas Ministry, St Thomas the Apostle Church, 331 S. 8th St., Brigantine, NJ 08203.
