Stephen J. Smeraski passed quietly with family at his bedside on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Lankenau Medical Center.  He was the beloved son of the late John and Josephine (Valenti) Smeraski, the dear brother of Alexis Franklin (John-david) and uncle of Zachary J. Franklin, Samuel M. Franklin, Esq. (Erica Koplove), Alexander J. Smeraski (Jaimie) and Savella Carlee Smeraski.  Stephen was great uncle to Amelia Smeraski and Landon Smeraski.  He was preceded in death by his brother Philip J. Smeraski, MD (Victoria).

Stephen J. Smeraski was the ultimate Philadelphia sports fan.  His beloved Phillies and ’76er’s were his obsession and their playoff and championship performances were the highlights of his life.  He was born on August 18, 1951, in Philadelphia and he especially enjoyed celebrating holidays with his family and making a festival of everyone’s “1/2 Birthday!”

Relatives and friends are invited to his Committal Service on Friday June 7, 2024, at noon, at the Family Memorial Gravesite at Laurel Hill East Cemetery, 3822 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19132.  In lieu of flowers and for those desiring to make donations in Stephen’s memory, donations can be made to the Roxborough YMCA (https://give.philaymca.org/team/549917) or to St. Bridget Church, 3667 Midvale Ave., Phila.
