Nicholas Alfred Clemente, Esquire, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away on July 17, 2024. He was 86 years old and lived an amazing life.
Nick was born on November 24, 1937, in Philadelphia to Alfreda Bohay and Nicholas A Clemente, Sr. He was the oldest of five children and shared a birthday with his daughter Lisa and granddaughter Mia.
Nick attended Saint John Kanty Prep, a boarding school for boys in Erie, PA where he played varsity football and tennis. He went on to attend Saint Joseph’s University (1960) in Philadelphia where he was a member of the Sullivan Law Society. Nick served in the United States Marine Corps at Quantico and Camp Lejeune and attained the rank of Captain. While stationed at Camp Lejeune, he met Carol Anne Hewit, the love of his life for 58 years. The couple were married in Tampa, Florida and moved to New Orleans, LA where Nick attended the Loyola School of Law and where their daughter Lisa was born. After graduation the couple moved to Philadelphia where their son Christian was born.
Nick was an Assistant District Attorney for the city of Philadelphia before starting his own law practice dedicated to trial litigation. He was admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania, New York and Louisiana as well as the United States Supreme Court, and the Second, Third and Fifth Circuits of Appeal. He practiced law all over the country as well as Europe, cultivating many sports and entertainment clients who considered Nick as both their attorney and a dear friend.
Nick was an avid reader of presidential and military history, often reading 3 books at a time. Nick loved scuba diving with his son Christian and family golf and skiing outings. Nick enjoyed eating hard shell crabs at Club Harmonia and specialized in cooking Chinese food for friends at the family mountain house. He liked dinners at the Vesper Club and many celebrations at The Union League of Philadelphia. Nick was a member of the American Legion Post 405, Saint Joseph University Law Alumni Board and did considerable work for The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation which establishes educational and humanitarian assistance for children who lose a parent while serving in the USMC or other Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
Nick is survived by his daughter Elizabeth “Lisa” Flanagan (John Mohr), granddaughters Delaney Grace Flanagan and Emily and Mia Clemente. Sisters Denise Hayes, (Norman), Richardine Waskiewicz, (Chet), brother Henry Clemente, (Susan), sister-in-law Becky Hewit Rauenhorst (Neil) and many many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Anne Clemente, son Christian Hamilton Clemente and brother Kenneth Clemente, (Jeanette).
Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside service at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 215 Belmont Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 on Friday, October 11th at 2:00 PM. Those attending are asked to form a line of cars by the office of W. Laurel Hill around 1:30. We will be led to the grave site at 1:50.
