Marie D. Travaline, of the Philadelphia neighborhood of Andorra, died Nov. 30, 2024.
She was originally from the Philadelphia neighborhood of East Falls. She was the beloved wife for 63 years of the late John Michael Travaline Sr. She is survived by her children; Dona Schmidt (John), John M. Travaline Jr. (Cathy), and Michael S. Travaline (Diane), her 12 grandchildren; Christa, Regina, Dona Ann, John J., Catherine, Megan, Emily, Michael Jr., Luisa, Nicholas, Vincent and Joseph, her 12 great grandchildren; Giovanni, Isabelle, Lucia, Siena, Gabriella, Carmella, Filomena, Caroline, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Maria and Michael III, her brother Edward V. Caruso (Joan); her sister-in-law Barbara Travaline and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adele and Santo Caruso, her brothers Peter (the late Rose) and Eugene Caruso (the late Marie) and her sister-in-law Josephine.
Marie graduated from John W. Hallahan in 1952.
Her family meant everything to her. She loved baking and cooking for her family and friends. Every year she had a special lunch with her grandchildren at the William Penn Inn (Mom Mom’s luncheon). Marie had a strong faith and she was very active in her parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary in Andorra. She was a recruiter for the Dominican Retreat House in Elkins Park.
Marie had season tickets for Eagles games for over 50 years. She enjoyed tailgating with children and grandchildren. Marie worked in Philadelphia city government for 10 years and then worked as an executive secretary for Gulf Oil and Sunoco.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing at IHM Church on Cathedral Rd. on Thursday, December 5, from 6-8 pm, and on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 am, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
