Douglas J. Cox—12/4/2024

Douglas J. Cox, of the Philadelphia neighborhood of East Falls, died December 4, 2024.  He was the beloved husband for 64 years of Joan (nee Sandrock).

He was the loving father of Ronald (Joanne) and Diane Cox and grandfather of Carly.  He is also survived by his brother Robert (Sharon), his niece Marianne and his nephew Charles.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Cox Storm.

Doug was a Philadelphia police officer for 27 years.  He was also a self-taught carpenter. Doug made practically all the furniture in his house. He enjoyed working with his hands. On the weekends he and Ron often did construction jobs for friends. Doug was an artist and a draftsman also. He liked to create his own plans.  For many years he and the family enjoyed camping at the Ocean View campground near the shore; right outside Sea Isle City.

His favorite quote was, “A day without Carly is a day without sunshine.”

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at St. Bridget Church on Wed. Dec. 11, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by Doug’s Funeral Mass at 10:30. Burial will be private and at a future date.

Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Bridget Memorial Fund.
