Michael McKeever—3/2/2025

McKeever, Michael, age 74, of East Falls died March 2, 2o25.

Michael was the second oldest of thirteen children. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in education and two master’s degrees. Michael’s love for education led him to a thirty-plus years teaching career at Girard College. Education wasn’t just a curriculum in the classroom though, he was an educator of life to all.

Michael was born and raised in Philadelphia where he was completely enmeshed in its culture, history, and theater. He was especially fond of the Wissahickon Valley and all it had to offer. Michael was involved in theater his whole life. He loved being on stage as much as being in the audience and when he wasn’t performing on stage he was performing in front of his classroom.

Michael led a simple and mindful life, he was kind, generous, and a consummate peacemaker. Our lives were enriched by his presence.

He is survived by his siblings; Clarita McKeever-Haney (Bob), Jane Gramlich (Bill), Maryanne Craven (Lester), Celeste McKeever Caruso, Paul McKeever (Sue), Patty Toal (Tom) and Colleen McKeever. Michael is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarita (nee McGlynn) and Thomas McKeever; his brothers Thomas, John, Mark and Brian and his sister Helene Miksitz (Carl).

On Thursday, March 6th, relatives and friends are invited to his grave side service at Laurel Hill East Cemetery, 3822 Ridge Ave., Phila. 19132.  We will line up on Ridge Ave at 10:45 a.m. and proceed to the grave at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Friends of the Wissahickon.
