Janet Friend Christman passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at her home in Old City Philadelphia on April 28, 2018. Janet is survived by her husband, Wayne, her children, Evin and Aaron, her sister, Jeanne and her grand-daughter, Ellis.
Janet was born in Camden, New Jersey to Thelma and Walter Friend on August 16, 1950. She received a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Trenton State College in 1972 and her Master’s in Special Education from Temple University. Janet taught at Oaklyn Public School in Oaklyn, New Jersey for 36 years. Upon retirement, Janet continued teaching at Rowan University and St. Joseph’s University.
Janet was an avid rower, an active member of the Christ Church community and a terrific Oma.
There will be a memorial service on June 2 at 10 AM, Christ Church, Philadelphia.
In memory of Janet, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Philadelphia Girls’ Rowing Club Preservation Campaign.
