Leroy Samuel Lampkin-Jeffreys–10/9/2023

Leroy Samuel Lampkin-Jeffreys, of Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023. Leroy was welcomed into the world on July 21, 1964, by his parents, Mildred and Leroy Lampkins. He was a proud graduate of Frankford High School. Subsequently, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Commercial Baking from the Stevens State College of Technology in Lancaster, PA.

He spent his teenage years developing skills and exploring the world as a Boy Scout, eventually attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. As a young adult, he began working as a security officer in a retail food market in the Philadelphia area and continued this work throughout his life.

The Christmas holidays were a particular delight to Leroy. He always spread joy to his loved ones with the perfect gifts and the most gloriously trimmed trees. His generosity knew no bounds. Leroy was also a fan of his hometown, spending long afternoons visiting the city’s parks and diverse neighborhoods by bicycle, trolley, or bus. He enjoyed reading about Philadelphia’s history and monuments.

Leroy is survived by his mother, Mildred; sisters Beverly Jeffreys and Debra Jeffreys-Glass; nephews Eddie and Sam Glass; brothers-in-law Laurie Farnum and Ted Glass; maternal aunt Cheryl Small, as well as numerous other aunts, cousins, and family members near and far. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy.

Family and friends are invited to a service celebrating Leroy’s life on Thursday, October 19, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 5900 North 5th Street in the Olney section of Philadelphia. The family will receive friends and family at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., and services will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Leroy and his beautiful smile that wrapped you in a hug will be missed by all who cherished him.
