Allison L. Corboy–10/9/2023

Allison L. Corboy, of Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023. Allison was born on November 12, 1952 in Fairbanks, Alaska.  She was the daughter of the late William Wenholz and Margaret Wenholz (nee Lennon) and sister of Alana Burgh. She attended Lathrop High School in Fairbanks and went on to graduate from Humboldt University. She went to law school at Santa Clara University. She met her loving husband, Michael Corboy, in Philadelphia and they were married in 1992.

She began practicing law in Philadelphia at Griffith and Burr, and after several years practicing at various firms established her own with her colleague Wendy Koch. Koch and Corboy was a boutique firm serving primarily insurance clients.

Allison was an active volunteer. She was a founding member of the Chestnut Hill Rotary Club, and served as its president from 1999-2000, and provided leadership in many capacities to the Club. Allison and Michael hosted numerous international exchange students through the Rotary, in many cases establishing life long friendships. Allison was also active at Christ Church, serving for a time on its Vestry.

Allison was an outdoors woman who enjoyed horseback riding, snow mobiles, skiing and dogs. She also enjoyed her Mahjong group and book clubs. She was a world traveler. She and Michael visited many beautiful locations in Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and Africa. She had a memorable trip to Russia with her sister Alana.

Allison is survived by her husband Michael, her sister Alana Burgh (Ron Burgh), mother-in-law Cynthia Corboy, sisters-in-law Lynne Corboy (Michael VanBuskirk) and Christine Eagan (Jeff Eagan), six nieces and nephews and 2 great nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a funeral service celebrating Allison’s life on Wednesday, October 18, at Christ Church, 20 N. American Street (2nd Street above Market Street). The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday evening there will be an informal gathering at The University Barge Club, #7 Boathouse Row, Phila. PA 19130 (on Kelly Dr.), beginning at 6 p.m.  Please do not send flowers to the church.
