Dale Richard Jones, age 73, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, Hanover Twp, died August 31, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sally (nee Carew); his two daughters, Jessica Walter (Evan) of Sacramento, CA and Heather Allcorn (Douglas) of Chestnut Hill, Phila.; his grandchildren, Grayson and Dylan Walter and Harry and Harper Allcorn, who were his pride and joy. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, a nephew and many friends.
Dale received his undergraduate education from Mansfield University and his Masters from Wilkes University. He was proud to be a teacher. Dale began his teaching career in Hanover Twp. at the Ashley Red School. He went on to teach in various schools in Hanover Twp. for 30 years. Dale was a history buff. Summer vacations always involved visiting various battlefields and reenactments.
Dale enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In recent years, Dale liked to walk the beach and to kayak in South Carolina.
Dale’s Funeral Service will be held at Falls Presbyterian Church, 3800 Vaux St., (corner of Vaux and Midvale), Phila. PA, 19129 on Friday, September 15th. Visitation will begin at 10 o’clock, followed by the Service at 11. Donations in his memory may be given to the Fox Chase Cancer Center or to The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
